Industrial Waste Heat Recovery Project at Drexel University

(on sabbatical from the University of Newcastle, Australia)

I worked as the “anchor” person on the Industrial Waste Heat Recovery Project in the MEM Department. Working closely with and under the direction of the Professors Hary Brown and Bernie Hammel, who were the Principal Investigators (PIs) for the US Department of Energy (DOE) (then called, ERDA) project, I put a team together to execute the project. I had several subcontractors and consultants with expert knowledge of the industrial sector. I had several graduate and undergraduate students working with me on the team collecting data and information. I organized the project, which enabled professionals from various organizations contributed the most in their specialization at an affordable cost. In less than twelve months, we were able to develop a premier industrial energy database for the US. Impressed by the results of that study, the US DOE gave a multi-million dollar follow-on contract to Drexel to develop a comprehensive database.
