Our Work
As we lead our daily lives, we see and read about significant progress in many fields. We have contributed to such progress in many fields when we worked for universities, private businesses, government, and voluntary organizations. But, we see a lot of suffering and misery even in advanced countries. For every millionaire, there are millions of people struggling to make a decent living.
With speculation about future, most people want to become sufficiently rich so that even in the worst recession, they will have enough wealth to lead a comfortable life. But, that threshold for 'enough wealth' is unknown. Thus, when one becomes a millionaire, one is not sure if that is enough and one wants to become a billionaire. If every person in the world becomes a billionaire, billion becomes the equivalent of zero. Hence, it is not the quantum of wealth but the relative position that people pursue. This leads to people yearning to become the richest relative to their neighbors - a million or a billion of them.
Many factors contribute to this relative rich and poor. We will discuss these aspects on the pages on this website under various headings.

US is a wealthy country. Then, what is the problem?
It has many poor people. It has a large middle class that struggles to make a decent living. It has the rich who do not understand what contentment means. It has political poles the extreme right and the extreme left and as the political alternates between the parties, policies swing from one extreme to the other. It has a military mindset that it can fix global problems by smart bombing territories.
We used to think that the USA has the best law enforcement force in the world but the fact that there are an estimated 22 million illegal immigrants exposes the weakness.
We have made suggestions to address the problem with illegal aliens.
US had relied on the right type of immigrants to shore up its economy and continues to do so. It could and it can make choices with respect to the types of qualifications and skills for immigrants. But, the problem is with the skills and qualifications that the next generation i.e. locally born citizens, gain. Unfortunately, the citizens take the economy for granted and do not upgrade their qualifications and skills as the US economy driven by the fast paced advanced technology demands.
We had made suggestions to address the poverty and welfare reform.
We have prepared spreadsheet templates for use by people to calculate their Social Security contributions. In most cases, the Social Security payments seniors receive are not a drain on the US treasury. The present worth calculations would show that the payments by people outlast them.

India
India is on the threshold of strong economic growth propelled by advanced technology. Through our comments in various media articles and presentations, we have provided our Thoughts on various Indian initiatives and projects that lead to good progress.
While democracy is a highly desirable political system, in a developing country, it can be a liability especially when crooked politicians hoodwink the electorate through bribes. However, India appears to be coming out of that phase as people seemed to have become aware of the tricks of such politicians and the drive for honest and transparent governance is taking strong root. It still has to go through the nursery and transplanting stages before we can be sure of the good harvest.
India has to overcome several problems. With a large rural population and declining rural job growth, India has to find a solution in rural economics. It cannot merely move the population to urban areas as the urban economy is itself weak and urban facilities are already crowded. India has to re-skill the population to make them productive in the advanced technology global economy. Education comes to the fore as the biggest challenge in order to make sure that the same problems pester for the next few decades.
For the last several centuries, governments in India were run by people with external loyalties. Hence, the main purpose of the government was to extract the most revenue in the form of taxes and fees and with no qualms about returning any funds for the country's development. The police forces had the objective of control of people rather than the safety and security and safety of people. Although, India gained independence and is now ruled by democratic governments for the last 70 years, the bureaucracy has persisted with its centuries old tradition. As the bureaucrats wield power, they try to use the time in office to enrich themselves by corrupt means. India has to make big moves to control and end corruption in order to gain through economic development.
Nearly two millenniums ago, European and Western powers learned about the wealth in India and began invasions and raids. Gradually, the invaders began settling in India and converting local people to their religions. They were never satisfied with a portion of the wealth and to live as followers of minority religions in India. They resorted to more waves of immigration and forced conversions. Although at the time of independence, it resulted in partition of the bigger India, India has a large minority population. India has to work with the large number of people belonging to minority faiths in order to make sure that the minorities do not clash with the majority group in their quest to become a minority through the continuation of conversions and illegal immigration.
